The Northern Nightmares will have to defeat reigning two-time home-team champs, Jersey City Bridge and Pummel if they want to claim championship title for the first time since 2015.
“JCB&P has won the past two home team championships, but we lost to the Nightmares in our season opener this year,” said Bridge and Pummel Captain ShenAnakin Skywalker. “When we rematch them in September, we’ll bring a new level of skill and prove that we deserve a third year at the top.”
However, Nightmares captain Monsoon Mandy is confident that her team is going to take down Bridge and Pummel for the second time this season, “It’ll be a hard fought game for sure, but we fully intend to leave the track having finally reclaimed the championship title.”
Fizz Whizbee, 27, started her roller derby training with New Jersey Roller Derby in December 2013 and transferred to the Garden State Rollergirls in March 2018. “This is something I’ve been working towards for a very long time,” said Whizbee. “I’m excited to be playing in my first home bout!”
The two will go head-to-head at the Inline Skating Club of America in North Arlington on Saturday, Sept. 8. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and the first whistle is at 8 p.m.
Spectators should be sure to get their tickets in advance at brownpapertickets.com. Admission is $15 at the door and $10 online.
