Montclair Make Music Day will present musical performances and interactive events to celebrate the winter solstice and the longest night of the year on Friday, Dec. 21 starting at 2 p.m. Included will be a family parade, interactive events at SoWisdom and performances from the Opera Theater of Montclair, School of Rock Montclair and Montclair High School’s acapella performers, The Passing Notes.

Family Parade

Java Love, 49 Church Street
Families are welcome to come to Java Love to line up for the parade and participate in a “bell by bell” holiday music performance led by Barbara Rudy of the Montclair Community Band. Parade will travel to SoWisdom at 40 South Fullerton.
Solstice Story and Activities

Everyone is invited to listen to a story about the winter solstice and participate in free, hands-on family craft. Free.
Make Music Winter Performances

Enjoy free performances from the Opera Theater of Montclair singing the finale of Hansel and Gretel along with other opera excerpts, rock from the School of Rock Montclair and songs by Montclair High School’s The Passing Notes. Food and warm beverages will be available for sale. Free.
Slow Roll Bike Ride with Holiday Caroling
