St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will be home to a temporary interactive art space, Bounce@theSanctuary, part of a town-wide celebration spearheaded by Toni’s Kitchen and the YMCA of Montclair. Bounce: A Festival of Optimism and Resilience will take place May 31 to June 7, 2019 and feature a range of events and workshops with the overall goal of fostering wellness and strengthening community connections.
“The sanctuary at St. Luke’s will be transformed into separate creative learning spaces that provide fun ways to focus on physical and emotional health – whether it’s a game that draws visitors together or an activity that stimulates altruism,” says Rachael Grochowski of RHG Architecture + Design, the design director and curator for Bounce@theSanctuaryGrochowski. “Taking creative risks will be encouraged!”
Bounce: A Festival of Optimism and Resilience brings together local businesses and organizations, working together to develop a week of programming. Events will include Blue Plate Bounce, an arts-infused outdoor community meal; readings and speaker panels featuring local and national thought-leaders; theater performances and family improv; and an all-ages dance party, among many other exciting activities.
The festival is centered around core, research-based principles and pathways for building optimism and resilience. In that spirit, activities will be accessible to everyone.
Funds raised will support ongoing wellness programs at the YMCA of Montclair and Toni’s Kitchen.
