The Montclair Rotary Club Foundation presented a $1,000 donation to the Montclair Public Library to support its new mobile library. The donation from the Rotary will enable the Library to purchase enough books to fill two of the twelve shelves of the recently acquired electric bookmobile.

“We appreciate the generosity of the Montclair Rotary Club and its charitable foundation,” said Peter Coyl. “As a civic group that has been concerned with increasing literacy and education, we are delighted they have chosen to help support this new service.”

The mobile library service is an effort to expand the Library’s reach to users, especially children and seniors. The bookmobile will visit community events, festivals, parks, senior housing, preschools, train stations, and local business districts.

The vehicle, known as a tuk-tuk, was manufactured in Colorado and was funded by the Montclair Public Library Foundation.

The acquisition of the eTuk is a continuation of the library’s efforts to remove barriers to access and serve its users through a lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
