UPDATE: Thank you very much for spreading the word about our campaign to deliver food to the healthcare workers at Mountainside Hospital. The response has been overwhelming and so heartening. This idea actually started with a friend in Westchester (here’s the link to the fund she built for White Plains Hospital) and the need is everywhere – we hope very much that others will hear about it and see what they can build in their own communities. While my name is on the GoFundMe, I’m just one proud member of a mighty team along with Florey Cruz-Cerpa, Ellen Brooks Shehata, Jo LaMarca Mathisen, and many generous local business owners in Montclair, Verona and Bloomfield.

Barbara Rosen of Montclair for helping staff at Mountainside Hospital and local food businesses.

She started a GoFundMe page to gather donations to pay local food businesses to prepare meals for doctors, nurses, technicians, security, maintenance and other staff supporting the emergency room and intensive care unit at Mountainside Hospital.

Rosen called to see how she and her friends could help during these trying times. While hospital staff can’t accept personal donations of sandwiches and cakes, they can accept deliveries from local restaurants and delis. So she put two and two together and came up with a great solution.

Please consider contributing whatever you can to this effort. Unfortunately, your donation won’t be tax-deductible (they’d have to set up something much bigger for that), but you will be making an important difference in the lives of our healthcare workers and our local businesses.
