Local food banks are strained with need during the COVID-19 crisis, not just for humans, but for pets, too. Here are two efforts to get more food to pets in need.

  • Brookdale Pet Center in Bloomfield is donating 1,000 pounds of pet food to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair. With your help, they can raise funds to donate even more.
  • Communities Promoting Animal Welfare (CPAW) sats getting pet food to people to help them keep their pets is one of the community’s most urgent needs. Thanks to generous in-kind and monetary donations, CPAW is donating both cat and dog food to the Montclair Human Needs Food Pantry, Toni’s Kitchen, and the Nutley Family Food Service Bureau pantry. If you want to help keep families together with their pets, you can:

Email cpawnj@gmail.com to drop off in-kind donations
Donate to purchase pet food at www.cpawnj.org
Volunteer to drop off pet food at pantries or deliver to individual locations

If you know of someone in need of pet food in our area, please contact cpawnj@gmail.com.
