MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair Film has announced its second round of screenings for Carpool Theater, a classic drive-in movie experience with social distancing.

Montclair Film is collaborating Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs to present three films, beginning Friday July 24 through Sunday, July 26 at South Mountain Reservation Archery Field (9 Cherry Lane, West Orange; parking lot located across from McLoone’s Boathouse).

All films begin promptly at sunset and ticketed patrons should plan to arrive early in order to follow strict safety precautions for the screenings. Venue opens at 7:00 PM.

  • Friday, July 24, Montclair Film presents THE LEGO MOVIE, featuring voice performances from Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Ferrell.
  • Saturday, July 25, Montclair Film presents WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, the 1971 classic starring the great Gene Wilder.
  • On Sunday, July 26, Montclair Film presents an advance screening of the new documentary THE FIGHT, an inspiring, emotional look at four court cases and the ACLU lawyers on the front lines of relentless attacks on civil liberties from directors Elyse Steinberg, Josh Kriegman, and Eli Despres. This screening will also feature a pre-recorded Q&A following the film. Magnolia Pictures will release the film in theaters and on-demand on July 31.

Tickets for each screening are $30 per car, $25 per car for Montclair Film members, and limited to 105 cars per screening. Tickets must be purchased in advance at Montclairfilm.org and go on sale to Montclair Film Members on Wednesday, July 15, at 12:00 PM, with Public Tickets on sale Thursday, July 16 at 12:00 PM. Interested patrons may become a Montclair Film Member by visiting montclairfilm.org.

A full set of detailed plans and protocols will be e-mailed to each ticket buyer ahead of each screening and will be enforced without exception to ensure the safety of all guests and staff.
