Montclair, NJ- Montclair Township Health Department reports that as of 08-29-20, the confirmed number of COVID-19 cases in Montclair increased from 499 to 504; the number of individuals who did not survive the illness remains at 54.

In order to respect the privacy of these individuals and their families, no further information can be provided regarding cases or deaths that have occurred in Montclair.

Montclair State University reported two new positive cases – a student and an employee for the week ending Friday, August 28:


A student living on campus tested positive on Friday, August 22. The individual was last on campus on Thursday, August 20 and will not be permitted to return until fully recovered and cleared by a medical professional. The student’s close contacts have been notified and are completing a 14-day quarantine. The infected individual is doing well, and the close contacts are not showing any symptoms.

An employee tested positive on Tuesday, August 18 and has been in isolation since then. This individual was last on campus on Tuesday, August 18, but had no close contact with anyone on campus. The individual has no symptoms.

These are the only confirmed campus cases since the start of the fall semester.
