Toni’s Kitchen held its first-ever town-wide food drive on Sunday, November 1 and it was a huge success. More than 7000 pounds of food were collected from 113 homes in Montclair and Glen Ridge. Families left food at their front doors and 14 volunteer drivers picked up the food to restock Toni’s Kitchen shelves.

“We are so grateful to our community for taking these steps to ensure that all our local residents can feed their families during this pandemic,” said Susan Andersen, one of the project team leaders.

Toni’s Kitchen has seen an enormous jump in food need from 4,300 average weekly meal count in 2019 to 20,000 recently. Toni’s serves a variety of food needs including hot meals to local homeless individuals, groceries to families and a mix of groceries and homemade meals to seniors. The food collected during this drive will help feed the over 800 families and 500 seniors supported each week. Toni’s Kitchen is a food ministry of St. Luke’s Church.

Toni’s Kitchen will have two additional town-wide food drive dates – Sunday, November 29th and Sunday, December 20th. If you would like to participate, register at Tonis TownWide Food Drive.
