Name: Anthony Lauro
Where do you live? Fairfield, NJ. I moved there three years ago after 12 years in Little Falls.
Where did you grow up? Brooklyn, NY
How do you make a living? I am the co-owner of Anthony’s Cheesecake & Restaurant in Bloomfield.
Coffee, tea, or … ? Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Addicted to it. When I get to the restaurant early AM, the first thing I do is brew a pot.
What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? My ideal weekend begins with a big cup of coffee at 5am, then head across to sit on the boardwalk in Spring Lake. Best time of day to watch the sunrise. A bike ride with Phil to Asbury Park. Long day on the beach followed by a BBQ.
What’s your favorite local restaurant? Locally I love the Calamari at Bucco, and I frequent A Taco Affair in Little Falls. All other times I’m at the shore dining.
What’s on your nightstand? Right now my Theragun Pro Massager (best gift ever) and some cookbooks.
What are you listening to? My music taste is all over the place. Alanis Morissette, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Classic Disco, and the list goes on.
What are your current indulgences? Netflix, my theragun, and most sweets.
What talent would you most like to have? To have a singing voice like Bocelli or Josh Grobin.
What’s the worst-kept (or best kept!) secret about our area? Being in Bloomfield 25 years, I’ve seen the restaurant scene has really made me notice what wonderful chefs there are in town. There are so many culinary delights and I’m very happy that Bloomfield has become a dining destination.
What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? “Why isn’t there any Cheesecake at this funeral?” But seriously, I would hope people would say I had a big heart and loved raising money for those who needed it most.
During this especially difficult time for small businesses, Baristanet Profiles will sometimes expand its reach to small business owners who are a part of the community through their work, but don’t reside in the immediate area.
