Fans of Villalobos were surprised to learn that the restaurant, part of the Montclair dining scene since 2014, is no more.
“After a temporary suspension of service mid-May, I have made the bittersweet decision not to re-open the doors of Villalobos,” said Adam Rose, Chef/Owner, posted to Instagram Thursday.
Rose writes:
First and foremost, I want to thank all our guests for making our seven years here so incredibly gratifying. Your support, especially during this very challenging time, has shown us what a special place a neighborhood restaurant can be. And our team deserves all my heartfelt appreciation for bringing their energy, their skills and their sense of hospitality every day.
I love being part of the community here, and I’m excited to be staying. Fortunately, I will be able to bring a new project to life in this space, on this block, with new partners at Montclair Hospitality Group, good friends and creators of Ani Ramen House. I can’t say anything more about it now—but I can’t wait to open the doors again.
