Name: Edward Nicholas

Where do you live? Montclair NJ , South End, 4th ward

When did you move there?  I’m Montclair born and raised

How do you make a living? I continue to work in the field of early child care education which I’ve been doing for 25 plus years. I also perform at various community events as a singer and host. As a Montclair resident for 50 plus years, I have been blessed to share my expertise in working with children and families to educate, uplift, and encourage so everyone can aspire to be who they are and what they want to do in this journey we call life.

What is your everyday passion? To be able to get up and enjoy the day

Coffee, tea or … ? Hot chocolate  and tea

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? Depends! I’m down for doing nothing or venturing out to network and socialize. (editor’s note: Check out Eddie’s YouTube channel for details!)

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Caribbean Touch, located on Orange Road in the South End. The best jerk chicken wings in town.

What’s on your nightstand? Small fan, cell phone

What are you listening to? Assorted music from jazz to dance, and of course my own  music which can be found at www.eddienicholas.com.

What are your current indulgences? Assorted Mike & Ike’s. Mile chocolate, thrift shops, Arizona Southern Tea

What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair?

Worst : The subliminal and classist description in the marketing of the new developments in the township of Montclair and the continued effort to distinguish upper Montclair from Montclair.

Best : The Glen in Glenfield Park. Hopefully funding will be awarded through the county to renovate that portion of the park for walking trails, bird watching  etc .

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? That despite his flaws He LIVED , LOVED, and CARED.
