Toni’s Kitchen is excited to announce that The Bravitas Group/The Silver Family Foundation is matching all financial donations to Toni’s Kitchen made between 8:00 a.m. November 18th and 5:00 p.m. November 23rd to support those in the community with food insecurity. This generous match is dollar for dollar with no cap amount set.
Bob and Rhonda Silver are longtime supporters of Toni’s Kitchen, a food ministry of St. Luke’s Church in Montclair, NJ. The couple helped nurture the organization from a small 3-day-a-week soup kitchen providing 7,000 meals 10 years ago, into a major food relief institution with a choice pantry, home deliveries, a Cafe food truck, to-go meals, and neighborhood pop-ups.
“Hunger negatively affects every facet of a person’s life,” explains Rhonda and Bob. “We are honored to have the opportunity to help bring relief to those who are hungry in our local community.”
Toni’s Kitchen serves a wide variety of food insecure populations with programs designed for flexible access. Since the onset of the pandemic, they have seen their numbers rise from 240,000 meals provided annually in 2019 to almost 1.5 million expected in 2021. Their work includes partnerships with over 60 community organizations to ensure that healthy food is available in the natural gathering places of low-income neighbors, including: after school programs, mentoring programs, ESL classes, social clubs for older adults, and others.
“We see families trying to get back on secure footing, recovering from the pandemic and navigating inflation,” said Anne Mernin, Executive Director of Toni’s Kitchen. “Funds raised through this generous matching opportunity will help keep food on their tables as they rebuild.”
