Police say shoplifters at the Claremont Avenue CVS filled entire garbage bags with merchandise.
On Jan. 19, an employee at the Claremont Avenue CVS reported that two males entered the store within a few minutes of each other. One filled garbage bags with merchandise and exited the store, police said. The second concealed unknown store merchandise in his jacket.
Both then entered a white Pontiac and fled east on Claremont Avenue, police said.
The first was described as wearing a green jacket, a winter hat with a white tag or writing in the center, a black mask covering from the nose down, black sweatpants and white sneakers. The second was described as wearing a black or blue sweatshirt, a black vest, a winter hat with a black and white design and a gray pompom on top, blue jeans and white sneakers.
At the time of the report, the manager was unable to determine an exact inventory of items taken.

VEHICLE THEFTS
Sunday, Jan. 23 — The owner of a 2017 BMW X5 reported that his vehicle was stolen as he was loading items from his North Mountain Avenue apartment to the car. A witness reported observing a young male in a yellow sweatshirt enter the car and flee north on North Mountain Avenue. The vehicle was recovered later in the day abandoned at the intersection of Broad Street and Lincoln Park in Newark.
Tuesday, Jan. 25 — A resident reported her 2020 BMX X6 was stolen from her Christopher Street driveway during the overnight hours. She reported accidentally leaving her key fob in the front seat cup holder.
Tuesday, Jan. 25 — A resident of Clinton Avenue reported that when he woke up, he discovered an unknown vehicle parked in his driveway. The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander was determined to be a stolen vehicle from Harrison. Surveillance video shows the vehicle arrive in the driveway at approximately 3:35 a.m. There was no description of any individuals tied to the theft.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENTS
Wednesday, Jan. 19 — A resident of Emerson Place reported that she was woken up by her Ring alert at 3:15 a.m. When she looked outside, she saw an unknown person exit a vehicle parked in front of her home and enter her neighbor’s vehicle. The person then exited and fled back to the awaiting vehicle.
Wednesday, Jan. 19 — A woman reported checking her Ring footage from overnight and observing a male walking up her Buckingham Road driveway and attempting to enter her 2022 Land Rover. The vehicle was locked and the male, described as only wearing a grey sweatshirt, is seen in the footage running to a car waiting on the street. Entry into the vehicle was unsuccessful.
