Montclair police responded to Park Street bar and restaurant Just Jake’s Tuesday night at 10:30 on a call of a physical dispute — two female customers attacking staff members, police say.

Two female patrons were acting disorderly during the evening and when they were presented with their check by the staff, they claimed that they were overcharged and became more belligerent, Montclair Police acting Lt. Terence Turner said. The staff requested that the customers leave and attempted to escort them out, but the women reportedly began physically attacking the staff, Turner said.

One male employee was struck in the face and bitten on his arm, according to Turner. A second employee received a laceration to the back of his neck, he said. A female employee was struck in the face, causing a laceration over her right eye and a contusion over her left eye, he said.

When officers arrived, the unruly patrons were being restrained by other patrons, Turner said. They continued acting disorderly and resisted arrest, he said.

Montclair EMS arrived and treated individuals for their injuries on scene, according to Turner. No one was taken to a hospital.

A 25-year-old East Orange woman and a 26-year-old Montclair woman were each charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. They were served with summonses and released from custody.
