MONTCLAIR, NJ – AAPI Montclair is hosting its first Color Run on Sunday, April 3, 2022 to celebrate the Spring festivals of Holi and Songkran. Holi is a popular Hindu festival, also known as the “Festival of Colors” and the “Festival of Spring” where entire streets and towns turn red, green and yellow as people throw colored powder into the air and splash them on others.
Racers will run a closed course inside Brookdale Park and will be splashed at the end with colored powder and water. There will be a color- and splash-free option for racers who prefer to opt out.
Songkran in Thai means “to move” or “change place.” Thai believe that water is purifying: it cleanses you of any bad luck or grievances from the past year, and blesses you with fortune and happiness for the year ahead. Songkran is known for its water festival and people celebrate by engaging in water play.
