The NJ Storytelling Guild will present a virtual workshop on Sunday, April 3 at 7 p.m. titled “Crafting the Emotional Arc for a Story,” featuring Nancy Donoval.

With 30 years of professional career, Donoval is a professional storyteller, story coach corporate consultant and assistance professor and storytelling program coordinator at the East Tennessee State University.

Donoval was the first-ever National Story Slam Champ, winning the title in 2010 for her piece from her one woman show, “A Survivor’s True Story of Rape and Recovery.”  Donoval’s stories have been seen at the National Storytelling Festival and heard on Chicago and Minneapolis public radio programs. She is also a co-author of “Point of View and the Emotional Arc of Stories, A Handbook for Writers and Storytellers.”

“Nancy Donoval invites us to push the limits of our storytelling. She reminds us that stories are shaped by the point of view we choose and if we choose wisely, we can better connect with our audiences and have a greater impact on how they hear our tales,” an NJ Storytelling Guild announcement read.

All members of the NJ Storytelling Guild will receive a Zoom link before the event as part of their membership benefits. Non-members can register for this workshop only by emailing njstorytellingguild@gmail.com and purchasing a ticket.
