Monica Olive Taylor of Glen Burnie, Maryland, formerly of Montclair, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 6, 2022. She was 73.

Born in 1948 in New York City, she was the daughter of Olive (nee Charles) Taylor and William H. Taylor.  

Ms. Taylor was raised in Montclair and attended Immaculate Conception elementary and high school. 

She received her doctorate from Capella University in Minneapolis, her M.A. from Xavier  University of Louisiana and her B.A. from Louisiana State University. 

She retired from the Prince George’s County (Maryland) School District as a guidance counselor at Bowie High School. 

Ms. Taylor was an avid reader, world traveler and lifelong student. She most recently was  taking classes in Spanish and writing at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. 

She was a member of the Unity Center of Light church in Bowie, Maryland.  

She is survived by her sister, Sue Ann Singletary (Leroy); her brothers, William Taylor, Charles Taylor (Valerie) and Kevin Taylor (Chyrise); her nieces and nephews, Joseph McGhee, Rhea McGhee, Julian Taylor, Alexandria Carr, Kevin Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Jessica Isenhart, Cheyenne Taylor and Eric McGhee; her grand-niece, Emery Isenhart, and grand-nephews, George R. Carr IV and Malcolm Isenhart.  

A private service of remembrance will be held by the family at a future date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ms. Taylor’s name to Xavier University of Louisiana, in New  Orleans.
