The Montclair African-American Heritage Foundation Festival recognized the achievements of Black residents of Montclair Saturday, honoring those who have given back to the community.
The festival took place at the TD Bank parking lot at 233 Bloomfield Ave., instead of its usual location — Nishuane Park. The location, along with a few other aspects of the festival, were changed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This festival’s honoree list included Tom Robinson, founder of the Nostalgic Automobile Society; Marsha Walker, a founder of the Hollow Cadets drill team; and longtime Montclair NAACP president and foundation leader Albert Pelham. And the grand marshals were Lorena Tyson, a Montclair school teacher of 26 years, and Jeh Johnson, former secretary of Homeland Security under President Barack Obama and resident of Montclair.
