Name:  Gail Stavitsky

Where do you live? Upper Montclair

When did you move there? August 1995

Where did you grow up? Shaker Heights, Ohio

How do you make a living? OR What is your everyday passion?  I work at the Montclair Art Museum as Chief Curator.  My everyday passion certainly is art!

Coffee, tea or … ? Coffee, one cup each morning!

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? Going to an art museum or gallery and taking a walk outside, somewhere in nature. The campus of MSU is a favorite place to walk with my husband. Having our daughter join us makes it perfect, as we did recently on the Walkway over the Hudson.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Not sure, but I do like Toros Mediterranean for the wonderful outside patio—very important during the pandemic to be able to dine outdoors!

What’s on your nightstand?  My kindle and currently the book Saint Sebastian’s Abyss by Mark Haber.

What are you listening to?   The news, especially the January 6 hearings

What are your current indulgences? Just saw the movie “Nope” at The Clairidge —it was great!

What talent you would most like to have? Anything artistic

What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair? Perhaps the Montclair Art Museum and the variety of exhibitions and programs it offers.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? I will leave that up to the attendees.
