
Montclair, NJ – The Montclair Center BID announced the winners of its annual Planter and Tree Bed Contest. Organized by the BID’s Public Space Enhancement & Activation Committee, the contest recognized business and property owners who cleaned up, planted and improved the tree beds in front of or near their stores, or utilized planters to beautify their storefronts.
The contest was divided into three categories. Vault 491 at 491 Bloomfield Avenue won for Best Tree Bed. Best Planter went to Fresco Da Franco at 15 Church Street. Samba at 7 Park Street was awarded Most Creative. Honorable mentions included: Efi’s Gyro, 521 Bloomfield Avenue, Rocklin’ Opticians, 20 Church Street, and Mesob, 515 Bloomfield Avenue.

The judges for the contest were horticultural experts, Deborah Hirsch, Marie Donnelly, and Lettie Teague from the Garden Club of Montclair. Jason Gleason, executive director of Montclair Center BID, presented each awardee with a special marker for their planter or tree bed along with an award of $100 for their efforts.
“We have so much talent in our area,” said Jaji Packard, Montclair Center BID board chair. “The thought and creativity that so many businesses and owners put into their planting displays is wonderful. We hope this will delight everyone who comes to shop, eat and play in our beautiful downtown.”
