Montclair will celebrate its sixth Make Music Winter on winter solstice, December 21, 2022. The event is once again being organized by Indie Arts Montclair through its Make Music Day Committee and is part of the Make Music Alliance’s national Make Music Winter celebration.
The day will begin at 2:00 pm with an outdoor Holiday Bells event in front of Gift Bar at 465 Bloomfield Ave. and will be led by Barbara Rudy. All community members are encouraged to attend and take part playing holiday songs using color coded bells.
Also starting at 2:00 pm will be two live music events. At Java Love at 49 Church St, Paul Anthoy, Joe Allocco and Matt McMickle will perform. Also at 2:00 pm, at Watchung Booksellers at 54 Fairfield St, Montclair Early Music will be performing holiday carols.
The following evening events are scheduled”
5:00 – 6:30pm: “The World Turned Upside Down” a sing and play along event featuring Zydeco, Appalachian and folk protest songs at First Congregational Church (indoors) organized with Outpost in the Burbs. The church is located at 40 So Fullerton Ave.
5:00 – 10:00 pm: Music & Trivia at Montclair Brewery with live music by (5 pm) Gabi the Artist, (6 pm – 6:30 pm) Chef Steph & Neon Cove, (6:30-7:30pm) DJ No Requests and (7:30 pm) A special Make Music Winter version of “Taproom Trivia” 100 Questions about Music with DJ No Requests Montclair Brewery is at 101 Walnut st.
6:00 – 8:00 pm: Ruthie’s Bar-B-Q & Pizza will host “Winter Blues” a special event for Make Music Winter. Ruthie’s is located at 64 1/2 Chestnut St.
6:30 pm- There will be a special Music Parade starting at the Christmas Tree at Church & So Fullerton Ave to Wellmont Plaza where we will join the start of UnSilent Night
6:30 pm Start to gather for the kick off to Phil Kline’s UnSilent Night. The community is invited to join us at Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night at Wellmont Arts Plaza, organized by Charlie Spademan. The Wellmont Arts Plaza is at 5 Seymour St. UnSilent Night will be a musical walk through town. More info can be found at http://unsilentnight.com/
7:00 – 10:00 pm- A special Make Music Winter Open Mic at Pineapple Express hosted by Meg Beattie Patrick. Pineapple Express is located at 1 Lackawanna Plaza
