Donald Lawrence Fletcher, of Montclair, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was 79.
Mr. Fletcher was born in 1943 and attended the Montclair public schools, graduating in 1963 from Montclair High School, where he was an outstanding baseball and basketball player.
Upon graduation he was employed by Elrob Manufacturing Corp. in Cedar Grove. He later moved on to work for Ford Motor Co. until 1979.
Mr. Fletcher then began working with the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission in Newark, from which he retired.
He is survived by his children, Donna Fletcher Williams (Derrick), Richard Fletcher Sr. (Kathy) and Duane Fletcher (Jennifer), and goddaughter, Constance Burke Gonzales; his former wife, Audrey Fletcher Lee; grandchildren, Richard Fletcher Jr., Jordan Fletcher (Gianna), Jared Fletcher (Courtney), Carly Fletcher, Allie Fletcher and Miles Fletcher; siblings, Carol Montague,
Butch Fletcher and Joan Drake; nieces, Vicki Green, Carla Montague, Tikeesha Drake, Tess Brown and Rorie Safforld; nephews, Edward Pelham and Christopher Brown, and great-nieces and -nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Fletcher was predeceased by his parents, Linnie and William Fletcher Sr.; two brothers, Richard Fletcher and William Fletcher Jr., and a sister, Eleanor White.
Services were April 13 at Caggiano Memorial Home for Funerals, 62 Grove St.
