The Montclair Kimberley Academy girls track and field team could not just settle for one Prep B championship.
The Cougars made it two in a row on May 22 at Newark Academy as MKA slipped by Villa Walsh, 106 to 103 points, while Morristown-Beard was a distant third with 75. In 2022 the Cougars girls track and field team also beat out Villa Walsh for the Prep B title.
The Montclair Kimberley boys track and field team came in second with 92 points, behind only host Newark Academy for the Prep B boys championship.
For the MKA girls team the difference was the field events as the Cougars scored 84 of their 106 points in the seven events, five of which were captured by Montclair Kimberley athletes. Junior Kitty Williams brought home a pair of firsts with victories in the discus (106-feet-11-inches) and javelin (103-feet-3). As a sophomore Williams also won the same events at the 2022 Prep B meet.

Another junior Kellen Ievers helped the Cougars sweep the throws with a first place in the shot put (32-feet-7.5).
And another MKA junior Salange Bell took gold in the triple jump (32-feet–7) while freshman Mila Huang grabbed first in the pole vault at 9-feet-4.
On the Cougars boys side sophomore Kalvin Thomas prepped for a hopeful run in the state tournament with three first place finishes at the Prep B tournament in winning the 100 meters (11.39), 200 meters (23.77) and triple jump 43-feet-7.5).
For Montclair Kimberley they hope the success in the Prep B meet will extend to the upcoming Non-Public B state meet on June 9 and 10 in Delsea.
