On Saturday, June 3, after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the African American Heritage Parade and Festival hosted by the Montclair African American Heritage Foundation made a joyous return.
This year, Cynthia Walker, founder and executive director of Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates, or S.O.F.I.A., and George Marable, owner of the DLV Lounge, were honored.
Throughout the day, participants were able to enjoy local artists in Nishuane Park including Samad Savage, DJ Rahim Wadud and many more. This was the organization’s first full scale parade since 2019.
