
$20k in luggage, clothing and electronics in car stolen from Montclair driveway, police say
A Montclair family had just returned from vacation Sunday, July 17, when their car, containing $20,000 in belongings, was stolen from their driveway, police said.
The family's 2019 Range Rover was stolen from a Woodmont Road driveway on Sunday. The vehicle owners had just returned from vacation, and the vehicle contained approximately $20,000 in luggage, clothing and electronics.
The Range Rover was recovered later in the day, abandoned in East Orange. The recovery report indicated "some" of the items were recovered, but didn't go into detail on which items, according to Lt. Terrence Turner.
A call to the vehicle owner by Montclair Police had not been returned by Tuesday.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRIME
Friday, July 15 — A complainant reported that while sitting in his living room on Franklin Place, he observed an unknown male attempting to gain access into his 2021 BMW X3. The complainant ran outside and the man retreated to an awaiting GMC SUV. The GMC fled east on Washington Avenue into Glen Ridge. The man was described as thin, 6 feet tall, wearing a ski mask and a white shirt.
Monday, July 18 — A resident reported that his 2016 Land Rover was stolen from his Enfield Road driveway. The vehicle was left running while items were being carried into the house. It was recovered abandoned in Newark the morning of Tuesday, July 19.
VANDALISM
Wednesday, July 13 — The owner of a 2018 Chevy Pickup reported that on three separate occasions, all four of the tires on his vehicle were slashed while parked at Lackawanna Plaza. The tires were valued at approximately $255 each.
ARRESTS
Wednesday, July 13 — A 49-year-old male from Newark was arrested on outstanding contempt warrants from the New Jersey State Police, Union, Newark, Roselle and Trenton.
Thursday, July 14 — An 18-year-old male from Bloomfield was charged with simple assault following a disturbance on South Park Street.
Friday, July 15 — A 27-year-old male from East Orange was charged with fraud and credit card theft after attempting to purchase gas on Claremont Avenue using a stolen credit card.
Saturday, July 16 — A 32-year-old male from Montclair was charged with disorderly conduct following an altercation on South Park Street.
Saturday, July 16 — A 66-year-old male from Newark was charged with criminal mischief after shattering the windshield of an Uber on Valley Road following a fare dispute.
