Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting on Pine Street at Glenridge Avenue that occurred late Sunday evening.

Asher Conn, 36, of Irvington was arrested on Monday and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.

Police were called to the intersection of Glenridge Avenue and Pine Street at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, on a report of shots fired. The victim, who had sustained a gunshot to the nose, had walked from the site of the shooting to Mountainside Hospital, police said. The  31-year-old Montclair man is in stable condition, police said.

Early Monday morning, police also responded to two armed robberies.

At 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, police said a man was robbed at gunpoint. A 64-year-old Montclair man was walking on Virginia Avenue when a dark-colored SUV approached him. Two men exited the vehicle and took about $100 in cash from the victim’s pocket. Police said, one of the two men brandished a handgun. The suspects were described as African-American males in their 20s, police said.

A half hour later, at 7 a.m., another armed robbery occurred, according to police. A 47-year-old Montclair man was walking on Sylvan Place when a dark-colored SUV approached him. Two men exited the vehicle and demanded the victim’s bag and wallet, with one of the two suspects brandishing a handgun. The victim’s laptop, cell phone and wallet were taken in the incident, police said.

Both robberies involved two men riding in a dark-colored SUV. The suspects in the second incident were also described as African-American males in their 20s. Authorities have not determined whether the same two men or the same vehicle were involved in both robberies.

Neither one of the robbery victims were injured.

Police are also investigating an unconfirmed report of a third robbery Monday in the area of Hilltop Place and Enfield Avenue.

Police Lt. David O’Dowd said the Glenridge Avenue shooting did not appear to be connected to either of the two Monday morning robberies.
