Author Janet Benton to appear in Montclair

Author Janet Benton appears today, Thursday, June 15, 7 p.m., at Watchung Booksellers, 54 Fairfield St., to discuss her book "Lilli de Jong," a novel based on the experiences of an unwed mother in 1883 Philadelphia. 

Jamie Ford, New York Times bestselling author of "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," said that book shows “A powerful, authentic voice for a generation of women whose struggles were erased from history—a heart-smashing debutthat completely satisfies.”

Benton's workhas appeared in The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Glimmer Train, and many other publications. "Lilli de Jong" is her first novel.
