In brief: Backpack give away this weekend

Registration is ongoing for the Montclair Sentinels annual free school supplies event. The event will take place at the Wally Choice Community Center, 49 Maple Ave., on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The event will include information for parents, hot dogs, burgers, games, free haircuts, face painting and a free basketball clinic. The book bag giveaway will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Pre-registration for the event is preferred. Pre-registered children will be served first. To register, visit montclairpal.org. The program is for Montclair residents only.
