In brief: Bay Street night, weekend rates drop

The night and weekend hourly parking rate will go from $2 to $1 at the Bay Street parking deck. After business leaders approached the town about the rates, the town council voted to lower rates for 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. and on weekends. Commuter permit rates will remain the same. Officials said that the deck is not used as much during off-peak hours and thought the drop in pricing would offer another area parking option.
