The Bellevue Avenue branch of the Montclair Public Library is closed indefinitely because there is no working heat in the building, officials announced on Monday, Nov. 15.

The boiler at the Bellevue branch sustained water damage during Ida, Executive Director Peter Coyl said.

“We were unaware of it until we had it serviced to start it up for the winter,” he said.

The parts needed to fix the boiler have been ordered, but could take a few weeks, Coyl said.  Supply chain issues are causing delays in receiving the parts, he said.

Library officials are still waiting on estimates for repairs. The library will generally cover the cost of a repair, but would request capital funds from the township if the cost exceeds a certain amount, typically $10,000, Coyl said.
