Kenneth Jones of Montclair has been charged with the fatal stabbing of Tameeka Johnson, 41, also of Montclair.

Johnson's murder is the third in Montclair this year.

On Nov. 12, Montclair Police discovered the victim at Union Gardens Apartments on Greenwood Avenue home where she resided with Jones, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II.

Before the police arrived, Jones fled the scene. He remains at large. Jones is charged with murder and weapons offenses, according to Stephens.

The investigation, which is active and ongoing, is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and Montclair Police Department.

Jones is the third man accused of murdering his partner or ex-partner in Montclair this year.

In April, Ahighah Broomes, 21, of Orange, was arrested and charged with the fatal stabbing of Akirah Townes. Townes, 20, of Orange, was stabbed outside of a home on Hartley Street. Broomes turned himself in to police later that day. He remains in Essex County Jail pending a psychiatric evaluation. Townes was attempting to leave for a trip to Virginia Beach, according to the Essex County Prosecutor.

Angela Bledsoe, 44, was allegedly shot to death by James Ray III in their shared home in Montclair on Oct. 23. Ray fled to Cuba, but was detained at customs by authorities on Oct. 28. He is facing charges of murder and unlawful possession of a handgun. On Monday, his attorney said Ray is claiming self defense.
