Negotiations between tenants and landlords, looking to head off a referendum with a new ordinance all the parties could agree upon, fell apart last week.

Ward commissioners will meet this week, either to decide to keep a map already adopted Jan. 12, or to consider three proposals that would significantly reshape the south end of Montclair's political borders.

The new map leaves most of Montclair's the Fourth Ward in Donald Payne's 10th District, and moves more of the township into Mikie Sherrill's 11th.

Two seats will be up for election March 8.

The meeting will be broadcast live on TV34 and simulcast on the Montclair Government YouTube channel.

Democrats had already chosen Scutari in closed-door proceedings several weeks ago.
