No one injured in Central Avenue house fire

No injuries were reported in a Central Avenue fire that ripped through a home on Friday morning, June 12.

The investigation into the cause of the blaze was ongoing as of Friday afternoon, said Montclair Deputy Fire Chief Robert Duncan.

The fire broke out at approximately 10:50 a.m.  While crews were en route, fire dispatchers reported receiving multiple calls about heavy smoke in the area.

Units arrived and found flames pouring from three front and side windows on the second floor. All of the home’s occupants had left the house before fire crews arrived.

Crews from Bloomfield assisted at the scene, while fire crews from West Orange, Clifton and Caldwell covered the township while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

The house sustained heavy fire damage to the second floor and attic area.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the home’s occupants, Duncan said.

Montclair Township Animal Control was also called to the scene to assist with the homeowner’s dog. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment, said Animal Control Supervisor Michele Shiber.
