
News in brief: Montclair Police Department seeks new crossing guards
The Montclair Police Department is seeking school crossing guards to work two to four hours a day, depending on assignment areas.
The crossing guard regulates and directs the movement of school children at a street intersection, paying particular attention to their safety; assists and protects children at a street intersection; observes and reports unsafe traffic conditions at assigned street intersections and may make recommendations to improve these conditions.
They also notify the proper authorities in cases requiring police action or medical attention; keeps and prepares reports as needed; responds to complaints and inquiries from the public.
Requirements:
- Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be dependable and arrive on time
- Must be able to work in various kinds of weather
- Must be able to pass a background check and physical examination
