Paintings by five local artists have been reproduced on notecards and are being sold through the Montclair Art Museum to raise money for future programming of the Montclair Institute for Lifelong Learning.
The paintings were created in a watercolor and gouache class that was offered by the MILL through MAM’s Creative Aging Initiative.
The paintings were selected from among 50 that were submitted by 20 students in the class, which was taught by Karen DeLuca and Kristine Lombardi in May 2017. All of the students’ paintings will be exhibited in the Upper Lobby of the Vance Wall Art Education Center at MAM, through Jan. 7, 2018.
Boxed sets of 10 blank Celebrate the Season notecards will be sold at Free First Thursday Nights at MAM on Nov. 2 and Dec. 7. Notecards will also be sold at Seniorama, which will be held at the Salvation Army on Thursday, Nov. 9; and at montclairartmuseum.org/mam-retail/products/mill-holiday-cards.
The MILL is part of Lifelong Montclair, the initiative that supports Montclair as an age-friendly community. Classes foster opportunities for learning and socialization for adults aged 55+. It is funded in part by Partners for Health Foundation and donations from the community.
The MILL is a collaborative effort of the Adult School Department of the Montclair Public Library, Montclair Art Museum, Montclair History Center and Montclair State University. Since March 2015, more than 130 classes have been taught in program areas that include the arts, health and wellness, and history and current events.
