DeCamp bus line passengers will be met with a commuter fare price increase starting Tuesday, July 5.

The announcement was made through the DeCamp Twitter account on June 14. Most routes will increase in price by about 11%.

Tickets purchased before July 5 will continue to be honored, the company said. It didn’t address the reason for the increase on its Twitter account, though consumer and business costs overall have climbed steeply over the last year. The price of gas, in particular, has increased, in part due to economic fallout of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A call to DeCamp on Monday hasn't yet been returned.

DeCamp, which is based in Montclair, was hit particularly hard during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, when it shut down operations in March of 2020. After initially resuming services in June of 2020, DeCamp faced a 90% reduction in ridership, company officials said at the time, and the company suspended services indefinitely. Limited services again began in June 2021 with phased reopenings through the rest of the year.
