Donors helping fund tickets to Silent Disco to Save Montclair Local
Several people have offered to buy tickets to the Halloween Silent Disco to Save Montclair Local, for families that might otherwise not be able to attend.

The event — a benefit for Montclair Local Nonprofit News, which is seeking to raise $230,000 this quarter to keep delivering you the news and information you value — will be Halloween night (families are encouraged to come by after trick-or-treating), and open to all ages. It’s produced by Armando “OUTthere” Diaz of the Weirdo Party.
If you’ve ever been to a Weirdo Party Silent Disco before, you know the drill — show up, rent a pair of headphones and dance the night away as DJ REBEXX, DJ Butta and DJ G Silva send the music right to your ears. The event will be at Glenfield Park Halloween night, Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Also newly announced this week: Tapdancer Maurice Chestnut will join the Silent Disco night for a performance. Chestnut and Diaz’s collaboration had been the subject of the first episode of “Our Montclair,” Montclair Local’s podcast and video series focusing on the art, activism and lived experience of people in Montclair.
We’re looking forward to seeing some ghouls, goblins and others dressed up for Halloween. Costumes aren’t required, but they’re very welcome.
It's $25 for an individual, or $50 for a family of up to four. Maximum attendance is 75 people. Payments can be sent via Cash App to $jsharif2329, via Venmo to PopupNDance or use the form at the bottom of this post here at MontclairLocal.news, under “Montclair Local Events.”

All proceeds will go to our Save Montclair Local campaign. Montclair Local’s ugent goal of raising $230,000 between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 of this year is what’s needed to put the nonprofit newsroom on firm footing heading into 2022. We’re off to a great start — as of the start of this week, we’re up to $112,000.
Your ticket payment goes directly to help fund salaries of journalists working to serve Montclair and related expenses.
