Song of Courage, Freedom and Change
Performing old favorites such as “God Bless America,” along with classics such as Telemann’s “Psalm Settings,” and choral arrangements of the popular Beatles song “Blackbird,” this ensemble, led by music director Ruth Hsu, welcomes all to an upbeat concert, Saturday, June 13th, at 3 p.m. The group, comprised of singers from Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and Montclair, will sing in the theater at the Bloomfield Public Library, at 90 Broad Street. Light refreshments will be served following the show. (Free parking is available in the State Street lot behind the library.)
Ms. Hsu is in her seventh year as Bloomfield Chorale Director. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Ms. Hsu holds a masters degree from Westminster Choir College, with dual concentrations in choral conducting and piano performance. She has led various church choirs and musicals in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. Her eclectic sense of music, combined with her experience conducting pieces from different eras and genres in various languages, have given the chorale unique opportunities to create innovative and engaging concert programs that appeal to a wide range of audiences.
