Every Wednesday Matinee @ MPL: Scary Movies in October

On Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a classic film series presented in its auditorium. Below are the scary movies being screened this October:

The Birds (October 7)—Starring Rod Taylor, Tippi Hedren and Suzanne Pleshette. A wealthy San Francisco socialite pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people there in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness. (1963, 119 minutes, Color)

Dracula (October 14)—Starring Bela Lugosi, Helen Chandler and David Manners. The ancient vampire Count Dracula arrives in England and begins to prey upon the virtuous young Mina. (1931, 75 minutes, B&W)

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (October 21)—Starring Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter and Larry Gates. A small-town doctor learns that the population of his community is being replaced by emotionless alien duplicates. (1956, 80 minutes, B&W)

The Haunting (October 28)—Starring Julie Harris, Claire Bloom and Richard Johnson. A scientist doing research on the paranormal invites two women to a haunted mansion. One of the participants soon starts losing her mind. (1963, 112 minutes, B&W)
