June 6, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pmFREE
Nereid Boat Club, 350 Riverside Ave, Rutherford, is holding its 10th annual free National Learn to Row Event on Saturday, June 6, 10am – 1pm. This event is open to everyone, reservations are not required, and it is free – there is no charge for any activities.
Participants can tour the Nereid Boathouse, learn about the care and maintenance of rowing shells, and get an instructional practice session on a rowing erg. Interested attendees can also get a brief on-the-water instructional rowing session on the Passaic River in a real rowing shell. Participants must be at least 14 years old to have an erg or water instructional session, and those under 18 need a parent/guardian present. No food will be available for sale, but free light snacks and water will be available. This National Learn to Row Event will be held rain or shine.
“We’re lucky to have the Nereid Boathouse and our rowing on the Passaic River. It’s calm water, and free of commercial traffic.” -Sheila O’Shea, Nereid Captain
