The council approved the installation of a four-way stop at Van Vleck Street and North Mountain Avenue on Feb. 19. Another resolution passed that night declared the need for the stop sign at the intersection an emergency and that placement could by bypass the 20-day waiting period.

A study by Neglia Engineer determined that a multi-stop is recommended for the intersection after examining speed and crash reports.

At the Jan. 22 meeting where council members voted on the ordinance to make it a four-way stop, a handful of neighboring residents said they hear the screeching of tires on a daily basis. There have been five accidents since the first of the year at the intersection. It is also a bus stop for students.
