Funeral procession through Montclair honors E. Orange Fire Capt. Vincent Intiso
By TALIA WIENER
First-responders from Montclair and neighboring towns assembled on Claremont Avenue Wednesday to pay tribute to East Orange Fire Department Captain Vincent J. Intiso, following his death last week.
The Professional Firefighters of New Jersey, sharing information about services for Intiso online, said he died of COVID-19 in the line of duty. A law signed by Gov. Phil Murphy last year extended accidental disability and death benefits for first-responders who contract COVID-19, and presumes by default they contracted the disease in the line of duty.
Intiso, 57, of Succasunna, died July 8 after serving 34 years with the East Orange Fire Department. In his obituary, Intiso was described as "a true family man" and "the heart of the firehouse."Montclair streets were closed
Intiso is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Grapes); his daughter, Haylee Rose Intiso; his son, Vincent J. Intiso Jr., and his brother, Charles P. Intiso Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
