Montclair’s Glenridge avenue will be closed ahead of art installation
Glenridge Avenue will be closed from North Willow to Forest Street between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. next week.
The closure will start on Monday, August 8, and will run through Friday, August 12. The reason for the closure is that workers will be installing a glass panel fixture that will serve as artwork for the Midtown Parking Deck.
Ground was broken for the Midtown Parking Deck in January 2021, and it was originally scheduled to be completed in February this year. Though the garage is built, it has not been opened for use because it failed inspection earlier this year. An alleyway does not meet accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The project is a part of $135 million Seymour Street development that includes 200 residential units, areas allocated for art, public parking, retail and office space, and a pedestrian plaza.
Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated one of the cross streets for Glenridge Avenue, which will be closed between North Willow and Forest Street.
