The Hillside Social Justice Committee is celebrating Kwanzaa on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. The celebration will be held online and registration is required.

At the event, participants will learn about the Nguzo Saba Kwanzaa seven principles: Umoja, which means unity; Kujichagulia, which means self-determination; Ujima, which means collective work and responsibility; Ujamaa, which means cooperative economics; Nia, which means purpose; Kuumba, which means creativity; and Imani, which means faith.

Participants will also listen to the "Anansi the Spider" folktale story, and will dance with the drums and dancers from Spektrums Afrikans Dance Company.
