Human Needs Pantry of Montclair to resume “Upstairs” program
The Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair will resume its “Upstairs” giveaway program in October.
Once a month clients can shop for free for men's, women's and children's clothing, as well as household goods. They also have linens, kitchenwares and more, all donated by the community.
Essex County residents who have to be registered at the pantry for food can shop the store. People can register by coming to the pantry on Tuesday or Thursday between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Bring an I.D. that shows address and and something that shows address such as a lease or a utility bill.
The program is accepting fall and winter clothing, linens and small household items every Tuesday and Thursday morning, and Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. The Pantry is located at 9 Label Street.
During the pandemic, the program was held outdoors and was limited in scope, according to a Thursday Facebook post on the group’s page. New protocols are in place to protect clients, staff and volunteers, the Facebook post said.
For more details on acceptable donations, visit the Pantry’s Facebook.
The Pantry will also be collecting new socks during October for a program called “Socktober.” The socks will be distributed in November.
