“Heading Home: The Tale of Team Israel” opens at the Bow Tie Clairidge Cinemas, 486 Bloomfield Ave., on Sept. 6 and runs through Sept. 8.

The Clairidge is one of only 13 cinemas nationwide to air the story of the national Israeli baseball team competing for the first time in the World Baseball Classic in 2017. Many of the players had never set foot in Israel before joining the team.

A sequel, which is in production, will follow the 10 Jewish-American baseball players who became dual Israeli citizens to help the country’s team make the 2020 Olympics.

The film’s directors, Seth Kramer, Daniel A. Miller, and Jeremy Newberger directed “Évocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie,” which premiered at the Montclair Film Festival in 2012.
