The Superintendent of Public Works is allowing for the use of leaf blowers to go beyond the Dec. 15 end date.

Due to the mild fall, there are many Montclair trees with leaves on them still, which has delayed the fall cleanup for many homes. Therefore, Rob Bianco, Superintendent of Public Works, has extended the use of internal combustion leaf blowers until Monday, Dec. 30.  No leaf blowers will be allowed to be used on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

The use of leaf blowers by landscapers is limited to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and up to 8 p.m. for homeowners; on Saturdays between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for landscapers, and up to 8 p.m. for homeowners; and on Sundays, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for both homeowners and landscapers.

The operation of leaf blowers is limited to the time period between March 1 and June 30, and between Oct. 1 and Dec. 15. The Superintendent of Public Works can extend the period at his discretion.
