Culture in brief: applications for SMI exhibit

SMI Artists (or those willing to join) are invited to apply to be included in “Discovery in the Details” from Studio Montclair, an exhibition that will focus on “compelling visual exploration through focus on a close-up view of a work of art. All media, including sculpture, are welcome.

“Artists should submit images of works that contain a detail (an area or focal point) that they find compelling and that can be enlarged to stand alone as a completed artwork. ... The enlarged detail, will be exhibited alongside the original work, and cannot simply be a photo reproduction of the selected area of detail unless the original medium is photography.”

No entry fee. Deadline is Saturday, Feb. 17. The exhibition will take place April 6 to May 19. For more information, visit studiomontclair.org.
