Montclair Art Museum will require vaccination or a recent COVID test

The Montclair Art Museum is the latest venue in Montclair to require vaccination or a recent coronavirus test for entrance.

The museum announced its policy an email to its contacts Monday morning. All visitors — for exhibitions, events and classes — ages 12 and older must be vaccinated against the coronavirus or provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within the 72 hours before attendance.

The museum will accept a CDC vaccination card or a photo of one. An attendee can also demonstrate vaccination through a state immunization app, such as New Jersey's Docket app or New York's Excelsior Pass.

Last week, Vanguard Theater Company in Montclair and Luna Stage in West Orange announced they would also require patrons to be vaccinated or present recent coronavirus test results to attend shows, as participants in the New Jersey Theater Alliance’s “Opening Night, Opening Right” campaign. The Wellmont Theater announced a similar requirement. And earlier in the month, Ruthie’s Bar-B-Que & Pizza on Chestnut Street said it would require guests to be vaccinated to eat indoors.

At the Montclair Art Museum, visitors over the age of 2 will also be required to wear face masks that fully cover the nose and mouth, regardless of vaccine status. Those experiencing any symptoms of coronavirus are asked not to attend.

"The health, safety, and comfort of our members, visitors, and staff is our highest priority, and we appreciate your cooperation," the museum told its community in the email.
